GORUCK

What is GORUCK?

GORUCK is a team building and endurance training based on special operations military training. Event leaders, called Cadre, are ex-military officers who lead the participants through physical and mental drills to help strengthen and improve themselves by pushing their own boundaries.  Participants carry weighted backpacks, called Rucksacks, and participate in physical challenges during the course of the event.

What is Ingress GORUCK?

GORUCK in the Ingress community is designed not only to strengthen our bond as a team, but to encourage physical fitness and get us out from behind our screens.  There are three Ingress specific GORUCK events that you can choose from during anomaly weekends:

GORUCK Stealth Ops

Implied by its name, GORUCK Stealth Ops events run under the cover of darkness. Typically starting at 5pm the night before an anomaly, they run 6-8 hours long and focus on a combination of strength and conditioning drills, along with team challenges and ingress game play.  This is a competition pitting the Resistance team against the Enlightened team in a series of competitive challenges, and points earned through victory contribute to the final score for the anomaly. This event is done while carrying 20lbs (9kg) of dry weight and 2L of water in a rucksack.  Though physically demanding, all ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up. Those who complete the event earn a custom GORUCK Stealth Ops patch and tick on the exclusive Stealth Ops Badge on their scanner.

Rating: Difficult

GORUCK Urban Ops

GORUCK Urban Ops run the morning of anomaly day, typically from 10a-1p.  Though shorter than its Stealth Ops counterpart, it is no less intense. Typically Urban Ops focuses less on Ingress game play and more on physical drills, teamwork and the ability to cover distance.  The same faction vs faction style of competitive challenges as Stealth Ops along with covering several miles in under three hours can be expected. Winning challenges during this event also contribute to the final score of the anomaly. This event is done while carrying 20lbs (9kg) of dry weight and 2L of water in a rucksack. Though physically demanding, all ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up. Those who complete the event earn a custom GORUCK Urban Ops patch and a tick on the exclusive Urban Ops Badge on their scanner.

Operation Clear Field

Operation Clear Field, or OCF as it is more commonly known, is a hybrid of Ingress game play, community service, and scavenger hunt.  This event typically occurs from 10a-2p the day after the anomaly, and thus does not have any impact on the final anomaly outcome. There is no faction vs faction challenge, and in fact x-fac teams are not uncommon. Teams will be given a ‘hit list’ by the event cadre, and will have four hours to check off as many of the items on the list as possible.  These hit list items may include public awareness, community service, local art or history lessons, and interactions with local residents and community members. Each hit list item has a point value and points are tallied via use of social media posts.  There is no weight/rucksack requirement for this event, and physical activity is moderate.  Teams compete against each other for the right to earn a Gold, Silver or Bronze custom OCF patch and all participants earn a tick on the exclusive OCF badge on their scanner.
